Sheffield

During the summer of 2007 (between my 3rd and 4th year at University) I undertook an 11 week internship at the Sheffield office and later in 2008 I re-joined the structures team as a full time graduate engineer.

Sheffield hosts one of Motts multi-disciplinary offices. During my internship I found I settled in and at ease – everyone in the structures department was extremely friendly and helpful. Any questions I had were always answered; whether being from a graduate engineer or a director; time was always made to help me develop. During this internship I was given an integral role within a design team working on the Leeds Building Schools for the Future programme. The design was extremely interesting and rewarding; especially to see the designs I had completed got to construction.

And now I’m back for more! The Sheffield office work on a large range of projects ranging from schools under the BSF scheme, to projects for private clients and the government, this wide variety of work means there are always challenging designs ahead of you.

The Sheffield office provides a fun and friendly environment for the budding engineer. Encouragement is always provided to encourage you to fulfil your potential with a great amount of training and support from all the staff. There are also a great number of social opportunities: from sports teams, to go-karting; from organised events such as cricket matches between the contractors and design engineers to departmental nights out, means there is never a shortage of activities to do outside office hours.
