Manchester

The office in Altrincham, Manchester has a very young and friendly atmosphere, with over 200 staff.

I started out working with transport and highway projects during the first couple of years, and after that valuable working experience made the decision to move across to the geotechnical department, which my line manager was open to.

Since then I have been involved in assisting senior geotechnical and geo-environmental engineers with supervision of site works, site investigations, geotechnical analysis and design of retaining structures and slope stability analysis etc.

My adaptation to the office was made easier as I had the opportunity to meet a range of staff through activities organized by our sports and social committee. Go-karting, quiz nights, sports sessions, bowling, are just some of the events organized and funded.

The office is well located. In terms of transport it can easily be accessed by bus, train or tram, all of them located within five minutes walk. It also has sporting facilities nearby such as gyms and leisure centres.

Finally the city of Manchester is vibrant and cosmopolitan to suit almost anyone. There are plenty of cultural events brought by the ever increasing number of galleries, museums, theatres and fairs. Manchester offers even the hungriest culture-vulture a hearty feast of art, music and theatre.

All in all, a great choice!
