Inverness

Having spent over a year in the Inverness office, my confidence has grown considerably and I’m beginning to revel in the challenge of working on a range of interesting projects throughout the Highlands.
The Inverness office is traditionally associated with water and wastewater engineering, and my involvement ao far has been concentrated mainly on water supply. I spent the majority of my first summer with Motts standing in rivers and measuring flow as part of a project monitoring the effects of new European Legislation on the volume of water abstracted by Scottish Water (SW). As winter approached, I was relieved to be brought back into the office to participate in a strategic project to identify treatment works and supply systems with potential for rationalisation. I have also undertaken training in the entry of confined spaces and have recently participated in a course that provided an introduction to the SW Drinking Water Safety Plans.
I’m now enjoying the challenges of a project which delivers conceptual design options of compensation chambers to return the requisite flowrate to streams from which SW abstracts.
Inverness is my hometown, and despite its recent promotion to city status it has retained much of its small-town charm. The surrounding area boasts magnificent scenery and is a haven for those who enjoy the challenge and adventure of outdoor pursuits of a weekend!
