Exeter

Exeter, the regional capital for culture, leisure and shopping. And of course we can boast having some of the most talented quantity surveyors in the UK.

Within the Mott MacDonald Group, Franklin + Andrews Exeter is the most southerly office in mainland UK. We have 12 permanent members of staff, and with four to six of those usually on secondment you would expect the office fairly subdued. However since we are in "Sunny Devon", people seem to have been affected by the heat and sun down here and the office is usually a lively, vibrant and exciting place to work.

Construction in the UK is booming and the South West is no exception, with Plymouth and Exeter both redesigning their 1960s city centre shopping precincts there is an abundance of work available. Our location at the forefront of the South West Peninsula means our office assumes responsibility for quantity surveying activities required throughout Devon and Cornwall which can make for some interesting site visits to hidden away fishing villages and some great surf spots. For a small office we are involved in a wide variety of interesting projects varying from large residential and commercial developments, PFI projects, health and education, as well as the increasingly important flood defence schemes for the Cornish, Devon and Somerset coastline.

The office is based in the city centre of Exeter so there’s not far to walk after a day’s slog to one of the numerous bars, restaurants, clubs, cinemas or if you’re that way inclined theatres, concerts or ballets, something for everyone you could say. There’s a vibrant social scene, high quality of life and a thriving business environment Moneywise magazine went as far as to vote Exeter the most up and coming city in Britain, and in my short time here I can understand why.
